23 June 2019
We celebrated Meng’s Clinic’s 55 years of service to the community in June 2019 as its beloved resident doctor and staff bid farewell to Tanglin Halt and her residents.
Known as the “people’s doctor”, Dr Chan is remembered fondly by residents for his big heart, generosity and medical intellect. He decided to retire to spend more time with his family. It was bittersweet seeing Dr Chan deliver his final speech outside the clinic. Patients and residents in turn were effusive in expressing their love, gratitude and appreciation towards him and his team.
Residents also got to dig in to the homemade goodies – cakes and puffs – made specially by Lenny, Dr Chan’s wife. In addition, attendees clamoured to get photos with Dr Chan as well as the clinic signboard which has since been taken down and donated to My Community.
A certificate of appreciation for Dr Chan’s decades of service as well as a giant placard filled with messages of gratitude from residents and staff, as prepared by My Community, were presented to Dr Chan in front of his clinic.
Meng’s Clinic signboard will be displayed at our upcoming permanent museum. We will miss you, Meng’s Clinic!
