Tanglin Halt 50 (2013)

Celebrations with and for the Community

Via collaborative programming, My Community develops audience-centric gatherings and fiestas for both young and old to enjoy. There is always something for everyone.

My Community invited popular and beloved hawkers from the demolished Margaret Drive Hawker Centre to come out of retirement for a day. These legendary hawkers proceeded to whip up sumptuous and nostalgic meals for residents and their longtime customers. This was all part of My Community’s plan to draw Tanglin Halt residents out of their flats to celebrate the 50th birthday of the quaint neighbourhood. Mr Lim Thiam Chor, known for his delicious popiah, was one of the many pioneer hawkers involved in the festivities.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who officiated the event, also made his rounds around the Tanglin Halt Food Centre to much fanfare.
